Each mug in our Riverside range portrays a fish commonly found in U.K. waters. Appropriately finished with detailed graphics on the inner rim, and explanatory text on the front face, the Riverside range is a sure favourite with any angler. Each mug in this range has a brief description on the front face - as shown below. Description on mug: Pike (Code 306) - Esox lucius: The Pike, which may be up to five feet in length, is often referred to as the Lord of the Stream. Mating time is in the winter when the fish pair off and seek weedy back waters where the eggs will be laid in the spring. Pike are territorial fish and each defends its own area, they are most often found amongst the vegetation of slow moving or still waters. The Pike is a predator and either live bait or artificial lures are used, winter is considered the best season.
